The rumors proved correct, and Gizmodo did indeed have their hands on the next generation of the iPhone. Having said that though, according to Jobs,<a href="http://www.dvdvideotools.com/iphone-ringtone-maker.html" target="_blank">make iphone ringtone</a>, the device has over 100 new features including, of course, an all-new design. <br /> <br />iPhone 4 (moving away from the 3G/4G naming system) is the thinnest smartphone on the market, being 24% thinner than the current iPhone 3GS. The two main materials are glass and aluminum, following suit with the MacBook Pro range and pretty much every other product with an Apple logo these days. There’s the usual silence switch, volume control, home button and sleep/wake button, but with the addition of a front facing camera, and a flash for the main camera found on the back,<a href="http://www.dvdvideotools.com/dvd-creator-mac.html" target="_blank">dvd burner for mac</a>, which has been boosted to 5 megapixels. Finally, video conversations and higher quality photography comes to the iPhone - two features that have been lacking for quite some time. <br /> <br />The new iPhone also has four times the amount of pixels than the previous iPhone 3GS did, while keeping the screen size itself the same. They have done this using a technology called Retina display - we’re not entirely sure either, but the iPhone 4 will have a super-sharp display, with 326 pixels per inch on the new display, giving a 960x640 resolution. From images being shown on stage at the keynote, it certainly looks a whole lot better. <br /> <br />The new iPhone 4 is now also going to use the Apple A4 processor that was first used in the Apple iPad. With the A4 processor and further enhancements, the new iPhone can get up to 300 hours of standby time from a single charge, and up to 7 hours of 3G talk time. Not bad. <br /> <br />Alongside the A4 chip, there’s a new style of accelerometer inside: a three-axel gyroscope, which adds the third dimension into the device. This’ll be perfect for flight sims, and I’m sure there will be some practical advantages, too. <br /> <br />iPhone 4 will be available in both black and white and in 16GB and 32GB sizes, for $199 and $299 respectively. It will be available in stores on June 24, with pre-orders beginning a week on Tuesday, June 15. If you’re already on an AT&T contract that ends in 2010, you’re set for an upgrade to iPhone 4, as long as you renew your two-year contract again. <br /> <br />That seems to be it for the hardware side of things.
