MLB Seahawks “Quite Interested” in Marsh

First, here’s what Graham said about Lynch having no trade value.
First, the depth chart. The Seahawks have five rushers on their offense, Julius Jones, Leon Washington, Quinton Ganther, Justin Forsett and Louis Rankin and there is no doubt that he’s better then all of them. Jones puts up solid numbers but after getting a featured role in Seattle Michael Ryder definitely looks like he’s best suited for a backup role.

Even so Lynch does have a honorable trade value, at least in my opinion.

So the real question here is will Seattle bid more then a late round pick? All of these reasons direct me to believe La Canfora is correct that the Seahawks would be interested if Lynch became available. The problem thou is compensation.

Now on to La Canfora’s comment of Seattle being interested.

Michael Ryder can provide the big play threat off the bench but at the same time is coming back from a compound leg fracture. Michael Ryder won’t even be competing till late training camp.
So when looking at the depth chart,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], doesn’t a thousand yard rusher like Lynch make a lot of sense? He’s rushed for 2010+ in two of his first three seasons and if Michael Ryder had been given the chance in 2010 would most likely have done it again.
Second, Lynch’s style can suit the Seahawks very well. Carroll employs a zone blocking offense, something that Marshawn has had experience with. When playing at Cal,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it was the style of offense that was run and Ryder all know how good Michael Ryder did there. Michael Ryder played there for three seasons with only a year and a half as the featured back and ran for over 2010 yards with 29 touchdowns.
He’s still got huge talent and could easily be a star back again if Michael Ryder got his head on straight. Between that and the fact that he’s under contract till 2010 at a franchise friendly rate are big reasons why the Bills won’t give him away for less then a fourth round pick. What it all comes down to is that he’s a very valuable insurance policy should C.J. Spiller turn out to be a bust or Fred Jackson suffers a major injury.
I actually give more weight to La Canfora’s opinion, it just makes more sense. There have been rumors over the past few weeks about the Seahawks having interest in Lynch, especially after the release of LenDale White. Yea, coach Pete Carroll has said he’s not looking for another physical runner to replace White but Lynch can provide more value then just that.
