What You Will Find In Thrash Metal
Thrash metal is another branch off the tree in metal music. This can include aggressive vocal signing, double bass beats and fast guitar riffs. Having loud singing and distortion with lots of bass have been know in thrash metal. Thrash metal was created by "The Big Four which was some new metal music news for the community." The fathers of thrash metal and are included in "The Big Four" are Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth. Starting in the late 70's and early 80's these pioneers began sculpting thrash metal as we know it today. At the late 1970's and early 1980's, there was a huge wave of British heavy metal music was circling. Expanding from punk rock and hardcore metal, thrash metal found its own style and technique. This introduced a more distortion guitar, complex riffs, long guitar solos, double kick bass drums and loud vocals. Most thrash metal songs played long introductions, high speed complex solos and long endings. Their high speed solos were often called shredding. Sweep picking, tremolo, phrasing, tapping, pull-offs and hammer-ons are some techniques musicians would use while shredding. This was a metal music movement for guitarist and the metal community. Metallica, Anthrax, Overkill and Slayer all released albums in 1984 that opened up thrash metal music to society. These different bands all had their own style and interpretation of thrash music. This brought new talent and techniques to thrash metal. Thrash Metal was on the rise after this, the metal community had brought it in and it started to grow. After thrash metal hit the top and the music grew, so did the style of music and the bands. Most of the same bands were still leading sales and album releases for thrash metal, but things had changed from where they started. With band changing their style to more of a hard rock this changed fans perspective. Metallica's "Load" and "Reload" albums fit into this category. Megadeth also took a different path when they released the album "Countdown to Extinction." Into to the year 2000 thrash metal has become very low in popularity. There are still bands coming out that fit into this category like Municipal Waste, Evile and Gama Bomb. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax still release new albums and still tour around the world, just a little different than what they were in the 70's and 80's. Thrash metal will always be a change of how music can be structure. Fast riffs, double bass and new techniques will always emerge, but they will be from the backbone of thrash metal.
