He instead stayed home and served as an alternate due to a broken thumb injury sustained which sidelined him from November 2005 to the day The US Roster was announced. The Team had already had other plans for their goaltenders,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but Ryan Miller was still placed on the taxi squad. Ryan Miller was then selected as starting goalie for the US in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver Canada.

Dallas had been awarded an NFL franchise after the draft, and the members who were made available in the expansion draft were what Tex Schramm called "The Dregs."
Ryan Miller was born on 17th July 1980. He is an American ice hockey goaltender and is currently playing for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League NHL. He was selected to play for the US hockey team in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games ice hockey game in Vancouver Canada in the position of starting goaltender. Ryan Miller won a silver medal with the team and was named most valuable player of the tournament. He would win the Vezina Trophy as the best goaltender in the last NHL season. Ryan Miller is known for his hybrid style of goaltending and is also the older brother of current Detroit Red Wings winger Drew Miller. Fifty years ago today,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], on July 9, 1960, on the campus of Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, the Dallas Cowboys began their first training camp.
A staggering total of 193 members participated in that first camp under Tom Landry, who knew that the team was lacking in talent. "What we didn't have in the way of quality," they said. "We tried to make up for in quantity."
"Some days our quarterbacks would be throwing passes to receivers they'd never seen before and never saw again after that practice,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Landry said. "Greyhound could have made a killing with a regular route between Forest Grove and the Portland airport. But we were so desperate for people, we gave tryouts to anyone we thought had the remotest chance to help the team."
A seemingly never-ending stream of members tried out for Landry that July.
"We got what it says on the Statue of Liberty," Schramm said. "You know,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 'Send me your tired,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], your poor,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], etc.' That was kind of the theory about stocking us."
