Post NFL Many Happy Returns Ranking The Top 20 2010 KR
He played four seasons for the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL in which he recorded increasing point totals in each year. His best year in the WHL was in 06 when he racked up 74 points in 60 games. Return To Sender!
More and more fantasy hockey leagues are extending their scoring to include return yardage. Guys like Joshua Cribbs, Darren Sproles and Percy Harvin make kick returns exciting things to watch. This added element lends another point of fantasy strategy.
Depending on how many points your leagues gives per return yards there are some names you should know who could potentially bring fantasy riches to your team. The standard in most leagues are to allot 1 point per 25 return yards, but some leagues give a point for every 10 yards, and that’s significant.
The key to kick returners are finding guys who are also involved in other aspects of the game and not merely return specialists. Below are the offensive players who should see valuable time in the return game for their teams.
–Offense–
Joshua Cribbs, WR, CLE ~ Cribbs are THE current king of returns. Last season they racked up 4 return touchdowns. But he’s also used in the Browns passing game, and in wildcat packages. If he’s on the field they can score in any capacity from anywhere on the field, and they comes with the added bonus of lots of return yardage. Percy Harvin, WR, MIN ~ Harvin are as prolific and as exciting as Cribbs above, and he’s far more involved in the team’s overall offense. However, with Sidney Rice out for half the season, and Harvin with his string of medical and emotional maladies, I worry the team may curb some of his return duties in favor of RB Darius Reynaud. Darren Sproles, RB, SD ~ Sproles are more than an obvious handcuff to rookie Ryan Mathews. they will play a large role in the Chargers running game,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], especially as the team’s pass catching back. More important for the purposes of these rankings, they are the teams primary return man, and one of the league’s most explosive. Kareem Huggins, RB, TB ~ Huggins has moved ahead of Derrick Ward for the primary RB2 role behind Cadillac Williams, and he’s usurped second year man, Clifton Smith as the team’s primary return man. As I wrote last week, Huggins are one of this season’s biggest break out candidates. Ted Ginn Jr., WR, SF ~ Ginn was a bust in Miami and the 49ers grabbed him with the hope that they could solve their return woes. He’s looked solid enough this summer that the team has also slated them as their WR3 on the team’s depth chart. This could be a second chance for the former Dolphin, to resurrect his career. Danny Amendola, WR, STL ~ Many experts are pegging rookie Mardy Gilyard as the team’s return man,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but so far health issues and Amendola’s performance have kept him from gaining any ground. Amendola are also the team’s WR3 with Donnie Avery out for the season with a torn ACL. Antonio Brown, WR, PIT ~ Stephen Logan has handled the Steelers’ return duties for some time, but the emergence of rookie Antonio Brown may have ended his days in Pittsburgh. Brown’s been the better return man this summer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and they can help the team in the receiving game as well. CJ Spiller, RB, BUF ~ Spiller are expected to handle return duties for the Bills, but due to injuries to Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch the team has been very careful with their remaining healthy back. This preseason he’s returned only one punt, but when the season begins they should see more time in the return game as an added bonus. Leon Washington, RB, SEA ~ Washington would be near the top of this list if we knew for sure just how much they’d use him on returns this season, but he’s a beast if they gets the nod. He’s like Cribbs and Sproles above in his ability to score from seemingly anywhere on the field if they gets the ball. Antonio Brown, WR, PIT ~ Stephen Logan has handled the Steelers’ return duties for some time, but the emergence of rookie Antonio Brown may have ended his days in Pittsburgh. Brown’s been the better return man this summer, and they can help the team in the receiving game as well. Aaron Brown, RB, DET ~ Brown had a nice rookie season with nearly a thousand return yards to go along with some small rushing yardage. I expect a bigger season from him this year. Andre Brown, RB, NYG ~ The Giant’s were expected to use Danny Ware as their return man this season, and they could still, but injuries have kept him sidelined and our third “A. Brown” on the list has stepped in and stepped up. With the injury big that infects the Giants’ running game, he’s a good name to know. Jalen Parmele, RB, BAL ~ Rookie Parmele enters 2010 as the Ravens primary return man, and he’s been very effective in the run game this preseason as well. If Willis McGahee were to be traded, they could be even more valuable. Courtney Roby, WR,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], NO ~ Roby was a return stud last season for the New Orleans Saints and are expected to continue that role this season. they put up 1154 return yards in 2009 including a return for a TD. Bernard Scott, RB, CIN ~ Scott are going to push Cedric Benson for playing time in the running game this season, but they will also split time with rookie WR Jordan Shipley in the return game. Another one of those added bonus picks. Damien Williams, WR, TEN ~ Williams has been battling with Marc Mariani this preseason but Williams has been pegged as the teams return man on punts and kick-offs. Keep an eye as the last preseason games are played, but they could be a quiet gem. LaRod Stephens-Howling, RB,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], ARI ~ LSH will split return duties with Justin Miller, but they will also be more involved this season in the teams special packages and running game. they someone to keep an eye on. Harry Douglas, WR, ATL ~ This job could just as easily go to Eric Weems, so keep an eye on what Atlanta does, but right now Douglas are the man, and they looks to be the Falcons’ WR3 as well. Deji Karem, RB, JAX ~ The rookie was hoping to overtake Rashad Jennings for the back-up spot to Maurice Jones-Drew, but for now he’ll play third string and be the Jaguars primary return man. He’s explosive so keep him on your radar. Yamon Figurs, WR, OAK ~ This preseason, Figurs has been the primary return man on punts and kick-offs. they doesn’t have much value outside of return duties. The Kelowna Rockets are a major junior ice hockey team based in Kelowna, British Columbia. The Rockets play in the Western Hockey League,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], out of the Canadian Hockey League. They play their home games at Prospera Place. In the past seven years, Kelowna has competed in the Memorial Cup tournament four times, the most of any other CHL team. The Rockets captured the Memorial Cup for the first time in franchise history in 2004,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], coincidentally the same year they were selected to host the event. Please read related articles:
